The number of great images entered this year made the judging especially difficult and the winners were once again spectacular.  The entries were judged on November 3 & 4, 2001. A special thanks to our sponsor Thermostatic Industries for allowing us to use their facilities for receiving the entries and the judging.  There were 159 entrants from 15 countries who submitted 943 images.  Seventy entrants received recognition for one or more of their images.  A list of the winning entries is included, pending any disqualification for rule violations.

All entries will be returned and awards presented by mid-January.

Our four judges this year were Bill Macdonald, Kathy deWet-Oleson, Andy Sallmon and Michael Hanrahan.  All have a lot of experience as underwater photographers with a keen appreciation for technique, artistic rendering and degree of difficulty.  Although it's not possible to relay their individual impressions of each entrants work, they were kind enough to discuss some general observations on the contest and material judged.  A summary is included.
